The discipline

Brand activation in Oslo.

Advertising is seen. An evening is remembered. A brand activation puts a brand and its guests in the same room. Presence Events plans, directs and hosts that room — professional people, flawless execution and creative direction.

The definition

What is brand activation?

A brand activation is a live event where people meet a brand in person — a launch, a retail evening, a private dinner, a pop-up. Instead of seeing the brand advertised, guests experience it directly: the product in their hands, the people behind it in the room. It sits between marketing and hospitality, and it demands both. The aim is memory that outlasts any campaign.

Forms

What an activation can be.

LaunchA new product deserves more than an announcement.

A new product deserves more than an announcement. Bring the right people together, create an experience around the launch and give your audience the opportunity to discover the product first-hand. From guest management and staffing to the details that make the moment feel special, we help turn a launch into an experience people remember.

Retail eveningYour store becomes the setting for something more personal.

Your store becomes the setting for something more personal. Invite selected customers, clients or partners after hours for an evening built around your brand. We take care of the guests, the atmosphere and the practical details, so you can focus on building relationships.

Private dinnerBring the people who matter most around one table.

Bring the people who matter most around one table. A private dinner can be an opportunity to introduce a product, build relationships or simply create a memorable brand experience. From welcoming guests to coordinating the evening and taking care of hospitality, we make sure every part of the experience feels considered.

Pop-upsTake your brand somewhere new.

Take your brand somewhere new. A pop-up creates a physical space where people can discover your product, meet your brand and experience what you stand for. Whether it is a one-day activation or a longer-term presence, we help with the people, hospitality and coordination needed to make it work.

Where we come in

Hospitality before marketing.

An activation stands or falls on the room: the concept, the pacing, the people who carry it. A beautiful idea served by an indifferent team is an advertisement with chairs.

This is our trade. Before Presence, our team delivered for Prada, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Formula 1 and Øyafestivalen. What we carry from that work is not the names. It is what those rooms refused to accept.

Get in touch

In our words.

  • Advertising is seen. An evening is remembered.

  • Great hospitality starts with the right people.

  • These things happen. What matters is having someone there who knows what to do next.

  • Exceptional hospitality shouldn’t feel complicated. It should simply feel right.

  • The result is not simply a dinner. It’s an experience designed around the people in the room.

  • A campaign runs its course. An evening is kept.

The caseWhy put people in a room. Most of what a brand says, it says at a distance.

Most of what a brand says, it says at a distance. A film is skipped. A feed moves on. Media buys a moment of attention, and the moment passes.

An evening is different. For a few hours the brand and its guests share the same room — the same light, the same table, the same welcome. No other channel does that. It is the only one where the audience can be received.

It is also the most demanding. A room speaks with everything in it — the welcome, the glass, the timing, the person at the door — and each is read as the brand. There is no medium between the guest and the message.

The outcomeWhat the evening leaves behind.Guests do not remember campaigns.

Guests do not remember campaigns. They remember how they were met. Who opened the door. What was poured. How it felt to leave.

That memory is what an activation buys. A guest who was received well tells the story in their own words, to people who trust them. A relationship begun in person outlasts the campaign around it. These returns are quiet. They arrive the next time the guest chooses.

A campaign runs its course. An evening is kept.

Questions

Asked before the first conversation.

What is a brand activation?Your brand, in person, for one evening.

A live event where people meet a brand in person: a launch, a retail evening, a private dinner or a pop-up. Guests experience the brand directly instead of seeing it advertised. It combines marketing, which decides what the evening should say, with hospitality, which decides how guests are received.

How is a brand activation different from advertising?Advertising is seen. An activation is attended.

Advertising reaches an audience at a distance, and the audience decides how much attention to give it. An activation brings a chosen group of people into a room with the brand and its people, for an hour or an evening. The two often work together: advertising builds awareness, an activation builds personal contact.

When is an activation worth the budget? When a glance won't do and an evening will.

When something is better experienced than described: a product people should hold, a story best told over dinner, or a market where relationships matter most. If a quick impression is enough, advertising is usually more efficient. An activation suits a defined group of guests you want to meet in person.

What makes an activation fail?Rarely the idea. Usually the details nobody owned.

Usually execution rather than concept: a skipped briefing, logistics the guests notice, a room that looks right but runs poorly. During the event every person and detail is read as the brand, so each part of the event needs a clear owner, the whole team needs the same briefing, and one person should be responsible for the floor.

What does Presence Events handle?Anything from the floor on the night to the whole thing.

It depends on the project. We can take on the whole activation: concept, creative direction, planning, suppliers, and the hosts and staff on the night. Or we can run the floor within an agency's concept. In both cases one contact at Presence is responsible for the floor.

Do you work with agencies?Yes. Good hosts are happy to serve someone else's idea.

Yes. An agency can bring us in as its hospitality and execution partner in Oslo: the hosts, the staff, the local suppliers and the running of the floor, working to the agency's concept and brief.

How do you know an activation worked?By the guests: who stayed late, who wrote afterwards.

By what guests do afterwards: whether they stayed, got in touch or came back. If you have specific measures, such as attendance, follow-up meetings or enquiries, they can be agreed before the event and reviewed together afterwards. We do not promise figures in advance.

Where do you work?Based in Oslo, working across Scandinavia.

We are based in Oslo and work across Norway and Scandinavia. For international brands entering the region, we can source local venues, suppliers and staff.

Considering an activation?

Tell us what you are introducing, and who should be in the room. We will say honestly whether an evening is the right way to do it. A first conversation commits you to nothing.
